Sweets Candy factory tour

The kids had school off for a couple of days this week so we went and did the Sweets candy factory tour.  The tour was something that I've been wanting to do with the kids for awhile. I thought it sounded like a lot of fun.  One of my favorite movies as a kids was Charlie and the Chocolate factory.  What kid wouldn't enjoy a tour of a real candy making factory?  I quickly found out that Benjamin was one kid who wouldn't.  He was excited and talked about the tour all day, then just as we were ready to start the tour he freaked out about having to wear a hairnet.  I guess we all looked a little scary with them on, and he completely lost it. There was no convincing him to wear it so........ I missed the tour.  I sent my two oldest kiddos along with my good friend and her children (thank goodness they came along or we would have all missed it completely).  I imagine it was fun, maybe when Benjamin is a bit older we'll try again.  One fun thing we did do however was buy a lot of candy in their candy shoppe.  I had an especially long time to browse while the kids did the tour.  As you can see from the photo one of their sweet concoction's consist of taffy.  Lots and lots of taffy.  They also make a family favorite, orange sticks and raspberry sticks.  We love those.  We also bought some gummy worms, and chocolate cinnamon bears.  There goes my diet right out the window (still working on baby number four weight).  It was a nice inexpensive way to spend a school free afternoon.  The up side was that we a got a lot of candy for Valentine's day for a sweet deal.

Oh that sounds so fun! Where is the factory? I don't think my kids are old enough to really enjoy the tour yet, but they would sure enjoy the candy!

I've wanted to do that. We will have to do it when I come in town. Glad Kate and Kirk had fun.
