Jence's little christmas surprise!

Okay we have had a super fun Christmas this year.  I can't believe that it's come and gone so soon.  Still as much fun as the Christmas break was, it is nice to be back into my routine again.  We had one major accident this month, and that was that Jence broke his leg.

Yes Jence is our little dare devil.  He has been so active and crawls everywhere including our stairs.  I haven't blocked our stairway because he learned to become quite the little pro at going up and down them.  In fact he does this all day long.  A few weeks ago though he took a big spill down them.  Dan was watching him going down the stairs on his tummy, when he got to our landing he turns around and goes forward on the flat part, then when he comes to the rest of the stairs he turns backwards again to finish the last set.  Well I guess he didn't get quite all the way turned around and sorta rolled down them.  Needless to say we were worried, but figured that babies were pretty flexible and he'd be okay.  He was a bit more fussy than usual, but he was still crawling around all over the place, so I didn't think he'd broken anything.  It wasn't till Sunday that I realized when he stood up on the church bench he was putting all of his weight on one leg and none of his weight on the one that was hurt.  We asked a Doctor in our ward to take a look, and he suggested we x-ray it.  I took him in the next day.  Our doctor said that he doubted it was broken but we could x-ray it to be on the safe side.  I"m sure glad we x-rayed it because sure enough it was fractured in two places.  His tibia, and fibia were both broken.  I decided to take him to a specialist for the cast.  I"m so glad that I did. Jence got great care from Dr. Bryan.  He has about one more week to have it on for a total of four weeks.  We are lucky he is little and still growing.  The Dr. told me that if an adult had the same break they'd have to have surgery.  I'm so grateful that we were able to get him the care that he needed.  We have felt so blessed in so many ways.  From having a wonderful ward member who was a Dr. look at it in church, to being able to be worked into the schedule to see the specialist late in the day after we had the x-rays.  I feel so grateful for good Dr. who have the power to heal so many peoples lives.  I'm glad that he will be better soon and didn't require complicated treatment.  Strangely Dan's brother Robbie also broke his leg just two days after Jence did.  Sadly his brake was more serious and required surgery.  His leg will take longer to heal, but we are hoping for a complete recovery for Robbie too.
