Well it's after 11:00 at night and I'm waiting for Benjamin's birthday cake to bake. I've picked out the baby Einstein Caterpillar for his cake this year. We love the baby Einstein videos (eventhough the new studies prove that they won't make your kid a genius, at least I'll get my kitchen floors swept)! It's funny I know I should be totally excited for this new milestone, but part of me can't help but feel sad. Maybe it's because the past year has gone by so quickly, maybe it's because Benjamin was my best baby and I don't want him to grow up, or perhaps I'm mourning the thought of being able to experience the wonders of a babies first year just once more, maybe. I think with my first child I was so excited to get to the next stage, walking, talking, learning their colors, and alphabet. I've found with Benjamin I'm in no hurry at all. The crazy thing is that I think his first year has gone by the very fastest, and I haven't wanted him to grow up this quickly. Okay enough with the lamenting already, let me try to explain just how wonderful our little Benjamin is with a top ten. Believe me I could do a top one hundred but my cake doesn't have that long to bake.
10. Benjamin has the cutest wave. He is the most friendly baby. He will smile at complete strangers, and wave, and say hi! He stands on the bench in sacrament meeting, and smiles at the congregation behind him. It's so fun to watch people smile right back at him. He loves it!
9. Benjamin has the coolest temperament. We joke that in his head he's listening to rasta music because he's soooo cool, and calm all of the time.
8. Benjamin has the most beautiful blue eye's ever. He his so darn cute.
7. Benjamin has the rosiest cheeks. The more tired he gets the more rosy they become.
6. Benjamin is a little snuggle bug. He loves to rub his little cheek up next to mine. He also places his head on my shoulder a lot when I'm rocking him.
5. Benjamin has very simple needs, you give him his bottle, and he's one happy little guy. If you don't give him his bottle, that's when you'll hear him holler.
4. Benjamin never fusses. He actually cries less than my two older kids put together.
3. Benjamin loves his Daddy. Just recently he has begun to prefer Dan over me. Of course I'm jealous, but how can I blame him, Dan absolutely adores Benjamin. (I do to of course).
2. Benjamin will put everything he can get his hands on into his mouth, except of course vegetables. It's so hilarious that he'll eat paper, but not his peas, or carrots!
1. Benjamin's favorite thing is to catch the toilet lid being left up. It's amazing how fast that kid can go when he sets out to reach the ever so evasive toilet seat that's been left up by accident.
one last one, Benjamin waves his arms in the air really fast when every he gets excited. It looks like he's attempting to fly. It's so fun to make him happy because of how expressive he is. He's also very ticklish!
I really could go on forever. But it's getting late, and I think sufficient has been said. We are so very, very blessed to have this special little guy in our home. He lights up our home with his smiles, and brings joy to our hearts every minute he's around. As long as we have little Benjamin, we always have sunshine, even if it's cloudy. There's the timmer, it's time to get frosting!
Love you BIG BEN!
